Why NIPEC is supporting Boardroom Apprentice

NIPEC have previously experienced difficulties in attracting members to apply to sit on the Council and additionally, the Council has not held a diverse membership with regards to background.

A current member who had previously undertaken the Boardroom Apprentice Programme has spoken of the positive experience it offered and how it allowed her to learn about life on a board.  By actively engaging in board meetings, she gained insight and developed the necessary experience and skills which enabled her to apply and be successful in joining NIPEC’s Council.  Therefore, NIPEC would be keen to afford the same opportunity to another apprentice which we believe would also help to further develop the skills of current members. The individual would be mentored by a Board ‘Buddy’  who would be able to guide them around the robust governance structures NIPEC has in place as a HSC Arms’ Length Body.
