Arts Care is a leading regional Arts, Health and Well-being Organisation based in Northern Ireland initiated in 1991 by the then Department of Health. Our organisation delivers a wide range of innovative and impactful participatory arts projects, arts events, performances and exhibitions into the heart of Health, Social and Community Care Services in Northern Ireland. Arts Care’s mission is to enable people in health and social care to transform their lives through participation in creative activities. Our aim is to enhance the quality of the service users, staff and community’s experience of Healthcare through participation in and access to quality Arts engagement. Our Key Objectives are
- To provide quality arts engagement to enhance Mental Health and Well-being.
- To transform clinical environments into ‘creative cared for’ spaces making them more friendly and welcoming
We operate a Arts Care Centre in Belfast with performance spaces, music and dance studios and gallery space. And we employ a network of ‘Artists in Residence’ and ‘Clown Doctors’ commissioned by the 5 HSC Trusts. We also engage a number of Project Artists on specific projects across NI as requested by a range of agencies such as Councils, Community Groups, and other Charities.
Why Arts Care is supporting Boardroom Apprentice
We have just recruited 8 new Board members and are establishing the new Board and new governance arrangements for the Charity. We feel we can offer an excellent learning experience for an apprentice as we move into an exciting stage of development of our charity. We will provide support at mentoring via a Board buddy and our CEO.
