The British Gymnastics Foundation exists to create opportunities through gymnastics, to bring real improvements to the lives of people and communities most in need. Our mission is to transform lives through gymnastics.

We have 5 programmes in BGF:

Hardship Grants:

Our Hardship Grants programme provides vital funding to help people stay in the sport of gymnastics when they are faced with significant hardship and/or crisis. To date, we have supported over 1,000 gymnasts who are most in need to stay in the sport that they love.

Love to Move:

Love to Move is an innovative age and dementia friendly seated gymnastics programme that’s transforming the lives of people in care homes and community groups all over the UK, and beyond. It is a unique programme with a Social Return on Investment to date of £51 million. It truly is a best in class dementia friendly exercise programme which is proven to help people regain lost functions.

Inspirational Experiences:

Our Inspirational Experiences Programme offers heartwarming and unforgettable moments for people who have endured difficult circumstances, whether it’s meeting their Gymnastics Idol, attending the British Championships or joining a Gymnastics Club for the first time, these experiences are tailored to bring a spark of joy and inspiration to those in need. One mum said, “Thank you so much for yesterday, the girls had the best time and so lovely to hear them talking about their best day ever!”

Limitless:

The Limitless programme enhances the skills and confidence of unemployed and disadvantaged individuals from areas of social deprivation in the UK

helping them to realise a career in sport. It offers comprehensive training and a mentoring scheme to ensure participants are fully supported. The programme aims to empower participants by boosting their confidence, improving their well-being, and increasing their employability through gymnastics.

One participant said: ‘You’ve made me believe it is Limitless to what I can achieve’

I’m IN:

Our Special Schools programme Our Special Schools programme delivers specially adapted gymnastics which empower and bring confidence to disabled children, whilst developing the skills of teachers and coaches at Gymnastics clubs to enable a school club link pathway and ensure a holistic approach to the project. The programme supports the transition of young disabled people into community sport, leaving a legacy of community provision which is fully inclusive.

Why the British Gymnastics Foundation is supporting Boardroom Apprentice

Our Board were in unanimous agreement and excited that we would like to support a Board Apprentice from this scheme. We have worked with Sport England previously on their diverse Board recruitment programme and recruited great new Board members, which has been an enriching experience for all individuals and for our charity as a whole. We are passionate about developing people and know that a Board Apprentice can offer us a unique perspective on future development of our charitable work and the challenges we face ahead of us. We genuinely hope you will choose us!
