Mediation Northern Ireland (MNI) was formed in 1991 and is a registered charity and limited company. We work with individuals, communities and organisations in the public, private and third sector to support them to deal with difference and to find non-violent resolutions to disputes. Our core activities include:
1. Delivery of mediation and related conflict services
2. Delivery of accredited mediation training
3. Mediation supervision and continuous professional development
4. Building of strategic mediative capacity in organisations and sectors
5. Providing opportunities for reflective & relational leadership in transitional contexts.
Our aim is to support parties dealing with change and contentious conflict to find just and non-violent agreements. MNI is a mediation development agency, and our objective is to develop creative responses to current societal challenges in partnership with community, political and public sectors. MNI currently employs two full-time members of staff, and one part-time. In addition, our work is delivered and supported by an experienced growing pool of 16 practitioners who work for us on a sessional basis. They are supported by a dedicated active Board of Trustees, currently with eight members. Our services are based in ‘Mediation House’ in South Belfast but we work across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Great Britain and internationally. We are the only dedicated mediation organisation in Northern Ireland, who is equipped to deliver accredited mediation training programmes.
