Orchardville Society Ltd (Orchardville), a Northern Ireland based charity and social enterprise has been supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism for almost 40 years. We have a strong track record in successfully delivering employability and community inclusion projects and we have provided some of the most disadvantaged and marginalised people in society with the opportunity to train, develop skills and to become more independent and more employable. We currently support almost 600 people with learning disability and/or autism annually in 6 district council areas.
Orchardville also operates several social enterprises, 3 of which are coffee shops, operating as commercial businesses, competing with other coffee shops while also adding value and delivering social change by providing on-site training and mentoring to people with learning disability and/or autism to improve their employability skills and secure paid employment. We are proud and honoured to have won the 2019 UK Social Enterprise Award for Employment, Training and Jobs.
Why Orchardville is supporting Boardroom Apprentice
“Orchardville acted as a host Board for the first time in 2020 and found it to be a very positive experience. We believe we have offered our apprentice a practical hands on experience of being a Board member and our apprentice has brought a new and different perspective and insight.”
