Sanctuary is one of the UK’s leading housing, care and commercial providers, managing around 125,000 homes across England and Scotland.
We were established more than 50 years ago and exist to serve our customers and communities where we operate. We provide homes and care to more than 250,000 people across a variety of accommodation including social housing, care homes, supported living accommodation, and student and keyworker rooms. As a not-for-profit organisation, all our income is reinvested into our homes and services for the benefit of our customers.
We are a trusted and responsible landlord and care provider. Our mission is simple – to build affordable homes and sustainable communities where people choose to live. Our three key strategic priorities set out how we deliver our mission:
• Putting our customers first
• Investing in our assets
• Growing our services
With around 14,000 employees, our team of dedicated and skilled professionals provide care and support, help communities flourish and maintain and build new homes. Our colleagues are central to us achieving our strategic goals. We are committed to investing in our people and developing high-performing teams who are dedicated to our mission and values – Ambition, Inclusion, Integrity, Quality and Sustainability – and putting our customers first. We are also proud to be a truly diverse and inclusive organisation where differences are valued, and everyone feels safe and comfortable being themselves.
To live up to our social purpose, we need to play an active role in the local communities where we work. This means connecting with customers, local authorities, charities and groups so we can work together to create communities that are resilient.
We believe that everyone deserves a good, safe home and community they can belong to, and that everyone should feel included. We want to help build a society with opportunities for everyone, regardless of their background or circumstance. By building and improving more homes, and by investing in our services and communities, we know Sanctuary can enable people to achieve their potential and provide people with a place to live of which they can be proud.
Why the Sanctuary Group is supporting Boardroom Apprentice
Sanctuary is committed to the the principle of inclusion and the importance of delivering equitable outcomes for our colleagues, customers and wider society. One of the key priorities of our ‘Inclusion for All’ strategy is enabling people from under-represented groups to progress their careers and personal development.
We value the benefits that diversity of thought and experience can bring to board discussions and decisions. We want to encourage people from all backgrounds to bring new and fresh perspectives to help us deliver our charitable objectives. As a not-for-profit provider of social housing, we are particularly interested in enabling people with lived experience of social housing to share their insight and views with our Executives and Board members.
