We are The Stringcredibles – an independent quartet of orchestral performers, who are dedicated to improving connections between musicians and audiences. We are based in Birmingham, and most of our work is carried out in Birmingham and the immediate surrounding area, though we do offer performances elsewhere too. We have recently celebrated our 10th anniversary and we’re looking forward to the next 10 years of music making.
We believe that classical music is for everyone, and that dynamic performances inspire powerful connections. By considering the needs of the audience, we help young musicians and education professionals to power up their performance skills and achieve greater impact.
Our methods are relevant to all musicians, whatever instrument they play.
We have created an ‘Apprentices’ programme which enables teenage musicians drawn from across the Birmingham area to form quartets, and to develop their confidence, their playing ability and their communication skills, presenting an exciting performance to primary schools at the end of the programme.
We also organise other project-funded programmes – this year we produced ‘Butterfly Lands’, a 45 minute performance for primary schools and community groups. It focuses on migration, connected to the Kindness Curriculum. We have partnered with multiple creatives from composers and poets, to visual artists and academic researchers. Previous projects include: Tunes from the Trenches, a special show to commemorate World War 1. It inspires a passion for history, brought to life with projected visuals and memorable music of the era.
We are a small charity, with no paid staff, premises or overheads. This enables us to be agile, creative, reactive and proactive too. We have a freelance Project Manager who applies very successfully for funding to enable us to develop exciting musical projects.

Why The Stringcredibles is supporting Boardroom Apprentice

As a Charity focused on supporting young people, we would like a young person (18 – 25 years preferably) to join our Board to give us their perspectives on our work. As all our work focuses on young people, developing their confidence and skills, we feel that for a young person applying, this programme aligns perfectly with our own mission and values. We would like this person to have the opportunity of experiencing high quality development opportunities, which this programme can offer them. We have identified a Trustee who is a professionally trained psychologist who works with young people to improve their skills, so we’re very confident that we can provide good quality support for them. The Chair is fairly new and keen on developing good governance, so the Boardroom Apprentice would be placed in a quality learning environment with a focus on structured governance development.
