The Civil Aviation Authority is the UK’s aviation and aerospace regulator, responsible for keeping passengers and the general public safe. Recognised as a world leader in our field, we are at the cutting edge of the exciting and ever-changing environments. Never standing still, our work includes diverse activities such as;• Driving world-class safety standards
• Managing security risks, safeguarding passengers and the general public
• Minimising the environmental impact of aviation on local communities
• Running the ATOL holiday financial protection scheme
Our mission is to protect people and enable aerospace. The breadth of our involvement in the aerospace sector is immense – from licensing pilots and engineers, to licensing satellite launches or taking decisions about how the airspace over the UK can be used. We also enable innovation and growth within the sector and work with innovators to bring new technology to market.
Why the UKCAA is supporting Boardroom Apprentice
The CAA is a values-based organisation. One of these, ‘never stop learning’ means we are open-minded, always eager to learn more and never afraid to challenge the status quo. Supporting the Boardroom Apprentice Programme allows the CAA to live our values through supporting the development of a talented individual, but also affords us to learn from that individual and broaden the range of perspectives we hear from.
The CAA is a proud leader in STEM and promoting opportunities in aviation and aerospace. We have extensive experience facilitating work experience and apprenticeships to allow people to get real world skills to further their careers and passions.
Please note that whilst the CAA Board will endeavour to maximize this learning opportunity for the Boardroom Apprentice, given the nature of items that can be discussed at our meetings, there will be instances where it is not appropriate for the Boardroom Apprentice to attend part or all of certain meetings.
